DEATH'S APPRENTICE
My body is without a soul.
Leaving you in peace forever.
Life, there's a rough knotted rope.
Flower petals turning to grey ash.
Wandering this impatient, tired, blue planet
For it is I- Deaths’ Apprentice.
I come to you this night.
I care not for your tale of torment.
The tears bore me little one.
The smile fails to bewitch me.
Your lies, though sweet, are numb.
Truths are but honey on dead bees.
Let us leave together on foot.
At least here in the end-
You, little mortal, are not alone.
IThis is no sadder than breath itself.
It is simply a story ended.
Be glad your tale was told.
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
This poem was found in a shack placed on the horizon between this world and the next. It was in a blood red book and the poem was writen in blackest of ink. The book held not only this poem but also The Files of the Dead. Each poem is undergoing translation, as I decode them I will post them. After many a night I managed to decrypt the tale of Luca Lewis. He was the first, but not the last, Customer of the Apprentice.
